A graduate in set design from the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico, he holds a diploma in art history from the National Centre for the Arts of Mexico. He has worked in the world of illustration since 1998. He has received various international awards in Spain, Italy, France, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Korea, Germany and Mexico. He received a special mention in the New Horizons category at Bologna Ragazzi 2009 and won the X City of Chioggia competition. He ranked first in the catalogue of children's and young adult publications in Mexico, in the CJ Picture Book 2010 Award in Korea and also in Sharjah Children Books 2012.

He was selected at the Bologna and Padua exhibitions in Italy, at Ilustrarte in Portugal and the Biennale of Croatia, to name just a few. He has won the Quórum awards in Mexico and his books have been included in the prestigious White Ravens list of the Munich Library in Germany and in the American Institute of Graphic Arts' 50 Books / 50 Covers catalogue. He has also been selected by the Book Bank in Venezuela. He was nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in Sweden and the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen prize in Denmark. He is currently artistic director of the International Exhibition of Illustration for Children (Fantasy Images) in Sarmede, at the Stepan Zavrel Foundation Museum.

He continues to work as an illustrator today.
