Rubelli “dresses” Pope Benedetto XVI

Rubelli, the well-known Venetian company producing and selling top quality furnishing fabrics, has donated a great part of the silk damasks necessary to manufacture the priest’s vestments that Pope Benedetto XVI and the religious authorities will wear during the solemn mass, which will be celebrated at San Giuliano lagoon park on Sunday, May 8th.

Thanks to its own textile culture and tradition, Rubelli was able to supply a damask made specifically for the Pope’s chasuble and the deacons’ dalmatics: an original pattern, dating back to the Middle Age and showing circles containing crosses flory, has been redesigned by Rubelli experts.
Moreover, a second damask, with the same pattern but on a smaller scale, has been woven to realize the stoles.

A third damask, named “Lenora” and belonging to the Rubelli collection, has also been chosen for the bishops’ and archbishops’ mitres.

Rubelli is proud to have donated something that proves the value of its age-long textile tradition.
Its contribution to the pastoral visit shows as well how the Venetian company is constantly present in the most important and impressive events.
