Hand-woven jacquard silk velvet. Presented for the first time in the decorative arts pavilion during the 1934 Venice “Biennale”. The original design was the work of the Milanese painter Alfredo Carnelutti. The surface is characterized by wavy uneven horizontal elements (reminiscent of the Venetian lagoon sandbanks) standing out on a ground pattern of gold diamonds.
