The beauty of decay, the refreshing quality of the imperfect.
Technical note: material and technique come together to form a rich decoration with a late Baroque pattern. Metallic weft threads woven in different weaves, thanks to the lampas technique, are raised to form a noble ornamentation on a silk satin ground.
30002 - Semiramide. The pomp and circumstance of an English pattern in a tonal range that's concise and sharp.

Rich gilded motifs swirl and sweep, imbuing the silk with a gorgeous preciousness.

30005 - Punteggiato. Designed by Gio Ponti, a velvet pointillist pattern rich in subtle tonalities, minimal order.

Rigid geometry broken down into a feeling of fun, cute and curved.
Technical note: two-pile ciselé velvet, cut and loop, on a metallic ground. This new version of the pattern, originally woven by hand since 1934 by Rubelli itself, maintains the features of the original design.
30006 - Rattoppato. Contrasted marks recall Eastern characters, lightly hinting at Oriental iconography.

Designed by Gio Ponti, the jacquard velvet has a deliberately hazy quality, as if the images it contains might slowly fade from view.
The symbols are registration points, staking out a pattern that's vague and vaporous.
Technical note: textured velvet, with viscose pile. Reproduction of the original fabric hand woven by Rubelli since 1934 for the Biennale of decorative art in Venice.
30007 - Alchimia. A curious quality invests this silk jacquard, as if the motifs it contains were naive woodblock prints.

As a tribute to Gio Ponti, shapes combine spare simplicity with a decorative nous, telling a story of object and design, of home and familiarity.
The rich luster of the silk is a perfect foil to the low-key particularity of the motifs woven within it.
Technical note: the satin ground in pure silk is very luxurious thanks to the use of 3-ply yarn twisted in Italy and with a high number of threads per cm, an inherent quality of Rubelli weaving. The fine cotton weft, in a colour which tones in with the warp, is used to create a measured matte contrast. A design by Gio Ponti dated to the early Fifties.
30008 - Reticolo. Mark-making on an empty fabric, in homage to Gio Ponti, creating positive and negative spaces through weaving.

Technical note: silky lampas inspired by an eighteenth-century embroidery where the elements of the decoration are formed by a patchwork of Indian fabrics. To imitate the lushness and variety of the original a high number of coloured wefts have been used which also create elegant raised effects on the strong and compact ground.
30010 - Drago. Technical solutions to luxury desires transform a quiet velvet into a paragon of primeval fantasy, reinterpreting crocodile skin in a multi-faceted manner.

The contrast of matte and lustrous is like heavy splashes of rain on the dark earth.
Technical note: cotton velvet with a heat-laminated film with a crocodile skin design. The film flattens the pile, creates a different colour tone and stands out due to its shininess.

30016 - Giardino incantato. Deep, intense, atmospheric.

Crinkled satin captures a fleeting moment, printing it like a photograph negative.
Technical note: a new technique of digital printing on a three-dimensional textured satin ground was devised in order to produce this fabric. The sheen of the satin of the ground enhances all the shades of the colours. Its considerable strength means it is suitable for upholstering furniture yet at the same time with a pleasant silky hand.
30017 - Maurilia. A classic damask given fresh vitality, fresh color, fresh air.
